Stillness is a moment. Stillness is a movement. Overtime, the quiet of stillness, came naturally to me.
At times, stillness felt like absence – like something was missing, or unfinished, or better yet, something that was waiting to begin.
Always busy. The hustle and the bustle. The fast movements of life.
I filled my time, easily and quickly, without thinking much about it. There were more movements in life, than pauses.
Busy.
But over time, something shifted.
Not suddenly, and not all at once. Just small moments where the quiet pauses became more prevalent. Moments where I left things as they were.
And in those moments, I started to understand stillness differently.
It wasn’t empty.
It was full – just in a quieter way.
Full of thoughts. Full of feelings I hadn’t made space for. Full of awareness that only exists when nothing competes for attention.
Stillness and quiet isn’t always easy.
Sometimes, it brings things to the surface that we haven’t had the time and space to address. Sometimes, stillness and quiet, asks us to sit with us.
Stillness however, offers us something else too. Something special.
Clarity.
Presence.
A deeper connection with ourselves.
I’m beginning to see that stillness isn’t something to move through. It’s something to return to.
Clarity.
Presence.
Awareness.

with quiet,
Kathryn
